I have read various posts about failure to spin, but none that duplicate what I have.
The washer will cycle fine through all the wash and rinse cycles. When it gets to the spin cycle it will not spin. I have smelled burnt rubber, the motor hums. I checked the couple and it is fine. If I reach in and move the lower agitator, it will begin to spin up.
Any ideas on the problem or what to check next? Thanks.

I should of mentioned that I had replaced the coupler about 8 months ago. I had found one of the pegs on the ground under the machine and thought the new one went bad, but As I said above, when I check it just now, it is fine.
