my machines fills up and goes through all of the cycles. The agitator works and the water gets moved around. Both parts of the agitator move. As soon as clothes are put in, the bottom part of the agitator still moves, but the top part just vibrates back and forth. It does not move. The spin cycle still works and everything else its just that the clothes aren't getting a good wash because they are not being moved around by the top part of the agitator.

HOw do I get the cam out of the agitator? I see that the dogs are broken, so I know this is the correct part but I cannot remove the cam piece from the agitator. Is there a trick? thanks for your prompt reply

You will need a socket extension to remove the 7/16 bolt down in the center of the cam which will then allow you to remove the agitator. There's a video on the parts page link that I gave you.
