I am currently sitting on the toilet next to my machine waiting for it to begin to empty prematurely.

It fills, then begins to empty before agitating. I quickly push the knob to shut it off, wait a minute or two, then pull the knob to turn it back on.

After a few minutes it happens again -- before it should. Again, shut off, wait, turn on.

I am getting a little sore from sitting on the toilet during the entire wash cycle waiting for it to prematurely drain!

Any simple fixes for this? Is it worth fixing or dump material?

Given the age of this machine (have you had it since new?) I think you should thank it for its many years of service, tell it you are sorry but many of the parts are no longer available and move on to a newer machine.

Good luck

That's what I want to avoid. In order to take the machine out, I have to take out the dryer. In order to take out the dryer, I have to remove the door and the doorstops (the little strips that keep the door from swinging through). A royal pain in the arse. I was hoping it would be something relatively simple like replace a cog on the timer. Oh well.

Well, I am sorry to hear that, but it sounds like you would have had to do something like to work on it anyway.

Wait a few days and see if someone else reading these posts has some ideas, but I am really afraid this one's lift ticket has expired.
