I've got a Samsung WF419AAW/XXA washer that's been leaving the clothes wetter than normal. I finally noticed that the there's a lot of vibration/thumping during the spin cycle. I think this is causing the washer to to end the spin prematurely.

From researching, it looks like I need a new drum/bearing assembly. Hence, a couple of questions:

Before I spend over $200, can I be pretty sure that this is the problem? Is there anything else I should check? I saw mentioned a VRT ring??? Also, I'm a DIY kind of guy. I've fixed many appliances like motors and pumps in my dishwasher, old clothes washer and dryer.

Is this something I could tackle? One website gives it a difficulty of 3 wrenches (out of 4) and I can't find much info on the repair.

Is it even worth fixing? It's got around 600 washes under it's belt.

Thanks!

Just a follow up here...

I put the washer in service mode and started the Quick Spin Test with it empty. At around 500 rpm, it started to act unbalanced. It only went to 650 rpm before stopping. I'm sure this thing is supposed to go over 1000 rpm.

I also watched a YouTube video on checking the bearing and/or spider. I grabbed the inner drum and shook it around. Everything seemed tight and quiet.

BTW, it actually has 680 cycles on it.

i'm not sure of your washer's exact setup but before you go to the more complex solutions, check your tub springs to make sure they're all still attached.. also if yours is like mine you'll have 2 sets of tub dampening pads.. if those are worn off or missing this will cause thumping.. only move on to other things if these things are in tact..
