17 year old GE fridge. fan motor in the fridge has gone bad. (replaced 3 years ago too.)
$75 parts/shipping. New fridge $450 in HI.
apt has common area electricity so elec. usage/savings not a big factor.
Repair or Replace? Any rule of thumb?
Thank you.

If the unit is in good shape then I would repair it.
New units will not last as long as the older ones.
Also new units usually have electronics in them so it is a good idea to plug the unit into a surge protector. |

If the old motor blew open, installing a 1000joule surge protector in the wall outlet will prevent failure. I use a Belkin one available on Amazon $6.99
