I bought a new Maytag Over the Range Microwave oven three months ago, and it was hit with a power surge that knocked out several appliances in my home (now have a Whole House surge suppressor). The microwave had lights on on the panel and I was able to reset the clock. As soon as I went to use it, it started humming loudly, so I unplugged it. I had a dedicated outlet put in for it, and tried plugging it in again. It is completely dead now. Is there a chance that it can be fixed (for less than an arm and a leg), or do I have to buy a new one? It costs approximately $280.

You have to have a multimeter to perform the troubleshooting. The microwave has to be removed from the cabinet for the troubleshooting and repair. The cost of repair can be from about $30 and up to $150
Let us know if you ready.
