Is there an easy way to attach the pump to the motor shaft? I cracked the new pump trying to get it on the motor shaft.

The pump should slide on easily, if it requires force then the motor shaft has rust buildup and will need to be cleaned with a small file and sand paper. Be careful not to remove to much as the two pieced are fitted to prevent slippage and premature pump failure. Once cleaned, apply a very thin coat of grease to the motor shaft to prevent rust and to help with installation. Hope this helps !!
