I have a kenmore range that worked fine.. recently a slight smell of gas from oven, confirmed with sniffer by gas man. Checked fittings with soapy water and resealed gas connection to range.Gas leak seems in frequent. Could a sticky safety valve be the problem? Please advise with possible suggestions. Can you please help!! Ive been laid off and can't really afford expensive service calls!! Iam handy and have meters and tools! Signed really coul use a break!

Same symptom on mine. Gas man isolated safety valve. Big ticket item on mine. Oven installation instructions require L.P. pipe joint compound for gas connections.
