I was given this washer which is model AWN432SP111TW01 with s/n 1106031978 for scrap price since it needed repairs. It was leaking at the main shaft seal and the bearing was very noisy . I dismantled it and replaced the worn out parts and am in the process of putting it back together. I have done this a time or two in the past and dread trying to hookup the support springs on the back side of the drum. I was told by my dealer who cant remember the source that there is a special tool someone made or is selling tp make it much easier to hook these springs on. Can anyone help me find this tool ? A secondary observation on this machine and quite a few other Speed Queen top load washers is that the styrofoam pad glued on the LH side of the sheet metal housing opposite the tub near the bottom is chewed up by the tub as it moves around during the spin portion of the cycle. This I presume is probably considered normal by the factory and the balance springs cant compensate for an unbalanced load of heavy wet clothes. On this particular unit I replaced the pad by gluing another piece of styrofoam in place where the older piece was located. There was no pad on the opposite side but I glued a piece there on the side wall of the sheet metal as I believe it is desirable. If anyone has some thought on this I would like to hear from you on this forum.
