The above model washer with s/n 0705022375 was given to me with the problem of belt wear. Smoke was noted to be coming from the motor area when the unit tried to spin. I dismantled the unit and found the belt with p/n 2200063 almost completely destroyed. The original motor was a 1/2 HP version. The tension spring for the belt was original. I believe the spring used by the plant is too weak and eventually allows the belt to slip and wear out. I had a spare motor and pump assembly from another washer that I installed even though it is a 3/4HP. The belt is a p/n 38174. I also installed a different spring with more tension which IMO is needed on any of this series of washer to prevent the belt from slipping. Can any other techs comment on the replacement of the motor, belt, and belt tension spring as I have described.?
