It never fails. My microwave just turned 13 months old and now the number keys won't work on the control panel. I had to cook my oatmeal by pressing the "add 30 sec" key 4 times this morning.

Does anyone know how I can fix this problem without spending more than a new microwave would cost?:)

Most likely the problem is a bad key panel. The model number you posted does not come up. If you need the correct part number then verify the model number and repost it. Post the color of the control panel as well.

My receipt says the model number is HMV1540DN. It is a black over the range microwave and was purchased from Home Depot. Here is the link: GE 1.5 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave Oven - HVM1540DNBB at The Home Depot

Thanks in advance!

The correct model number, you posted now, helped to find the correct part number.

- The control panel assembly Part number: AP4355865
Part number: AP4355865

You can call the Appliance Parts Pros customer service to find the part ETA.

I have the same problem and wondered how it was resolved? My 30 second interval works but part of the keypad does not. Mine is also just out of warranty. Part no. GE - JVM1540 SN#- RR901207B. What do I need to replace? Thanks.

Most likely the problem is a bad control panel. If you need the correct part number, post the complete model number of the microwave and the color of the control panel.

Using my model GE # JVM2070SK02 Spacemaker (green panel)
Lights went out, all works, interior light, under light, but CONTROL PANEL when pushed goes black.
Or it takes me to a HELP menu, does not respond to what is touched.
I cut of circuit breaker, took offline unplugged 5min, nothing it pops up to set clock, but goes to help menu when I push anything.

Appreciate this OUT OF WARRANTY assistance

Sounds like the control panel has gone bad. Unfortunately this part is very expensive.

Hi,
My microwave control panel was screwing up for awhile, wrong numbers came up or not at all, and now nothing is working. Is this a control panel replacement or a simple fuse replacement? White GE JVM1650WB005
Thanks,
Crystal

Hi Crystal,

If "nothing" means that you can not input anything from the keypad then most likely the problem is a bad keypad.

If you can input any command but the microwave does not perform then the problem could be a bad control board.

- The keypad Part number: WB27X10253
Part number: WB27X10253

- The control board Part number: WB27X10382
