My G.E. microwave stopped heating last week and decided to check door switches, transformer, thermal protectors, hv capacitor, and hv diode. everything checked out except for the diode. It showed infinite readings when checked both ways, which should mean that the diode is open. So I ordered a new diode from you guys, part no. WB27X10597 and decided to check it for resistance before replacing it. And the new diode shows infinite readings when checked both ways. Do you think that the new diode is open as well? Thanks, John

Diodes on microwaves are open one-way and a very high resistance the other. So if your meter isn’t set high enough it will read as if it were open. Some ohmmeters do not have a high enough scale to check diodes. I have owned a few ohmmeters would not check microwave diodes. But it’s ok you need to replace it anyways along with you magnetron tube. Microwave Repair Guide
