I have a 5 year old maytag gas oven model MGR5755QDW that will not heat up on the bake mode. The broiler and clean mode both seem to work fine.

Most likely the problem is a bad Bake igniter. You have to remove the oven floor and the flame spreader to access the part. - The part number for the igniter is AP4012072Gene.

I had the same problem with the same model: MGR5755QDW. I luckily found this thread and ordered the bake igniter suggested by Gene. Ordering was easy and the part came quickly ($55 with shipping). Great experience. I installed the part with the instructions it came with and page 30 of the service manual I found here: http://www.servicematters.com/m...ibrary/docs/16022498.pdfMy notes: - Be sure to unplug the oven from the electrical outlet and disconnect the gas. - The oven door comes off easily once you find the little latch on each hinge that rotates forward. I used a screwdriver to pry the latch forwad. - Study how the old igniter is set up before removing it. That was my best guide to how the new one should be installed. - The bracket and wire connection options were a bit confusing (at least to me). The bracket the new igniter came preinstalled was right for me, and I ende up cutting off the weird (and different) connectors on both ends (the igniter end and the oven end) and connecting the wires with the included ceramic wire caps. I never fixed anything like this before, but I just heated my oven to 350. Awesome. It seems possible that my old igniter was perfectly OK and that my problem was just a loose connection - especially since I had moved this oven recently. But I didn't want to mess around once I got in there to fix it, so I was happy to just buy and install the new part.
