every 3 or 4 months the fridge and the freezer stop cooling. I have to turn it off for a while then turn it back on to get it going again. Any suggestions. Anybody else have this problem?

I haven't noticed any build up. It just stops cooling and freezing on each side.

If the whole unit shuts down, and you here no noise, I would suspect the thermostat or the defrost timer. If you hear it running, and it is not cooling, I would suspect the overload and relay on the compressor. You need to establish when the refrigerator is not cooling, if the refrigerator is running or not. Tom ApplianceEducator.com
