At this time I would set the right temperature for both compartments and stop to play with them. Let it run for a longer time (days or weeks) and just watch it.

If the temperature in the freezer is more than 15°F then the ice maker will never work properly. Otherwise the ice maker has to be replaced.

What's the best way to replace (and easiest) to replace the thermostat? Through the floor of the freezer or somewhere through the front? I can see it when I lift up the floor of the freezer but it seems hard to cut the wires doing at that way.

Here's the latest. It seems like the thermostat may be the culprit. I've noted that the freezer and frig can cool sufficiently (0F & 38F) but, it seems that the unit continues to run until it's too cold (-5F & 30F). Even a minor adjustment to the thermostat at this point will cause the unit temp to rise too far (20F & 45F). I also noticed that when adjusting the thermostat, it sometimes does not respond (start/stop the unit). If I lightly tap the thermostat control knob, the refrigerator will come on (or go off). Also, yesterday, I initiated a manual defrost cycle by turning the thermostat off for 15 seconds/on for 5 seconds (three times) and then leaving it off. I could hear the ADC board relay click and the ice melting in the freezer and water draining. I set the thermostat back to the "normal" setpoint and, after a few mintues, the refrigerator came back on and cooled. Your thoughts?

Thermostat was the problem. Swapped it out and now, at factory (midpoint) settings for freezer & refrigerator, the freezer maintains 0F and the refrig is 35F. Thanks for your help Gene. Great website!
