When I turn the dial to start the cycle, the washer starts as it should, then the dial doesn't move and the washer just stays in that part of the cycle. In the repair tips section, it says that a defective timer or selector switch is uncommon.

Hey Jim,

A defective timer is not very common, but if you move the timer to different points and it never moves, then the timer needs to be replaced. There are probably some bad contacts within the timer preventing the motor from getting power.
