I noted that the timer is not moving with no heat coming out and the dryer does not shut off. I have gone on to search the forum. Could it be the problem of the timer ?

Could it be the problem of the timer ? ================================= I stripped off the back of the dryer, went through the forum's posting carefully. I took out the Dryer Heating Element and found a break in the coil. The part number of this Dryer Heater Element is :- Whirlpool Electric Dryer Heating Element 279838. I think this could be the problem ??? ----------------------------------------------

In many units when in an auto mode the timer motor gets power through the heating coil when the coil is off. Therefore a bad (open) heating coil will stop the timer advancing. Note: In a timed dry mode the timer motor usually gets power directly from the line so it should have advanced in timed dry.
