When i pulled the cover off to get at the n and l i did notice the white gear was snapped off at the base and when i looked at it there was black marks at the end of one of the copper pieces on the gear.

I would replace the ice maker first and see how it will work. - The ice maker Part number: AP3182733 Gene.
