My Broan compactor is jammed (the ram is in down position). I removed the back panel and discovered the teeth on the small top gear are completely worn off. It seems that the ram may be stuck on something. Is there a way to manually raise the ram?

Randy,

Use a 15/16" socket(I believe that is the size) with ratchet on the sprocket nut to raise the ram.
