Hello,

My Kenmore 90 series washer has stopped spinning. It still agitates fine during the wash cycle but when it comes time to spin it starts to make a very loud noise during the entire spin cycle but does not spin.

I purchased the washing machine used to save some money and don't want to invest too much in repairs.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Since it operates ok during agitation the problem suggests that the issue could be with the clutch or the brakes. Pull the transmission to examine both of these areas. If you want to, go ahead and replace the brakes and the clutch lining and that might fix things.

However you should note that the transmission may also be a problem and your best bet in that case is buying a basic top loader. If you want to replace the transmission you can buy the part from this site and return it if it does not fix things.
