I have a WHIRLPOOL 30" Slide-In Electric Range Model # GY397LXUB03 Serial # D24060805 The numbers 1, 2 & 7 have stopped working on the touchpad. All other functions appear to work properly and the oven does come on / timer works, etc. Is this as simple as replace the touchpad switch membrane - Whirlpool W10207928 Swtch-Memb - AppliancePartsPros.com or is there the potential of others issues? If potential of other issues how would I test / diagnose? Also - part is about $20.00 less from ******************************** http://www.********************...GY397LXUB03/1198/0124160 - will AppliancePartsPro match price? Thank You

If potential of other issues how would I test / diagnose? There is always a possibility that the control board is the problem but the membrane switch is more likely. There is no way to check it as I cannot find a pin out for the panel so you cannot check it.
If you purchase it from AppliancePartsPros and it does not fix your problem you can return it. Please see their return policy.
Perhaps the following might work at least it is worth a try. Connector Cleaning / Checking Unplug the unit Open it up Remove the ribbon cable from the keypad to the control board at the control board. Clean the edge connector. Use electronics contact cleaner or isopropyl alcohol. If it is the type where there is not a connector just the insulation is removed, it can be cleaned with a pencil eraser. Do not use an ink eraser as it is too abrasive. Check the tracks in the ribbon cable for hairline cracks. A magnifying glass helps here. Would not hurt to clean the connector on the board. Use electronics contact cleaner or isopropyl alcohol and a tooth brush. Be gentle and do not reconnect till all the solvent evaporates. Reconnect everything and give it a try. |

OK - so had to replace the touchpad AND the control board - now oven will not go over 205 degrees -
Oven heating up was never issues previously / before replacement of touchpad / control board.
Ideas?
Do you have a link to the wiring diagram?

See the attachment for the wiring diagram. If the unit shows that it is ready then check the oven sensor resistance. Should be about 1100 ohms at room temperature. If the unit stays in pre-heat check the wiring. Check the oven elements. Check the hi-limit ( should be 0 ohms). If all )OK odds are that you received a bad board. |
