I have a Maytag Neptune dryer model MCE8000AYW. It will not start.

When I press the Start button, it just makes a clicking sound.

The top portion of the drying cabinet works fine.

The control panel works and the diagnostic code result returns SOL and End (nothing).

I ran a Logic Board Output Self-Test (Lo) and both top and bottom return PASS.

We reset to factory defaults and still nothing.

I opened the front case, cleaned out all the lint.

I removed the Thermal fuse and tested for continuity and there is continuity. I put the thermal fuse back on. I also tested the door switch and the continuity was also good.

Any other testing suggestions or help would be appreciated.

Thank you,

I'm having the exact same symptoms and test results. Just curious if you figured out what was wrong?

I ended up fixing it myself. Both the thermal fuse and heating element needed to be replaced. The heating element is no longer available so I had to use a restring kit which wasn't was hard as I thought it would be. I spent about $80 in parts.
