The washer performs normally until it reaches the point to drain the tub & spin. It will completely stop then, leaving the tub full of water (and wet clothes).

Advancing the dial does nothing to help, however, at some of the other dial positions, the timer can be heard "humming/buzzing".

Based on the prices of new machines, I would like to repair the old one. Also, since new timers are also expensive, I would like to make sure that I check other possible parts.

So far, all we have done is to manually check every other position of the dial (no help except that the humming noise occurs at some points), and made sure that the lid switch was being contacted by the tab on the lid.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi.

Unplug the washer. Open the control panel, disconnect the lid switch plug and using the multimeter check the continuity between outer contacts (lid closed).

No continuity - replace the lid switch Part number: 3949247
Part number: 3949247

Use the video clip for the instructions.

The suggestion that the problem may be the lid switch was exactly correct. For now, I have bypassed the switch and the washer is working fine. There is still the new noise (humming/buzzing) coming from the timer. It may be going bad too. I'll worry about some other day.
Execellent help. Thanks.

Hi, Rick.

Don't use the washer with the lid switch bypassed. It's dangerous specially if there are kids in the house.
Replace the lid switch.

Simon.
