Not too much; I used a hair dryer to thaw them and it thawed very quickly.

Mark,

When I asked how bad it was frozen I meant if the air flow could go through. And what about rest of the coils? How they were covered or they were clean?

Not that bad. I used a hair dryer and the ice melted very quickly.

Sorry, I missed your last post.
I'd say that some air could get past the coils. Most of the rest of them were clean.

Gene,
I got the evaporator motor test done: voltages are good. When I plugged the motor back in it started running; probably still need to replace it??

Other problem is that the fan in the custom cool section is still not running. I pulled the fan out and it runs with 12VDC applied to it. Other issue is that the wiring harness that came with the fan from you is not the right one: I have no 9 pin connectors on my model. What controls this fan?

Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

I'm afraid the problem is there and not the fan in custom cool section. That fan does nothing else but maintain a set temperature in this section only.

The evaporator coils should be about 100% covered with thin frost. If most of them were clean then the sealed system can be low on Freon which causing warmer temperature in both freezer and fresh food compartments. Double check the evaporator coils and post the result.

Gene,
The evap coils have a nice uniform light layer of frost on them this morning; temps in the freezer=0, temp in frige=36.

I need to send the custom cool fan & harness back since I didn't need it. Do I need an RMA or what?
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

It's still not clear what is wrong. You have to keep it under control for some more time.

Will do. I have reassembled the FF side and left the freezer apart. Since the evap fan was not running and now it has been for about 24 hours, would you recommend I replace it?
Thanks,
Mark

Gene,
The frige is working well over the weekend FF @ 37 and FZ @ 0.
What do you think?
The latest numbers are: frige @40 Freezer @ -4 and fan over evap not running; coils are frosted.
Thanks,
Mark
