If it heats fine, and the timer won't advance, then you need a new timer. Tom Appliance Educator, Appliance Parts, Washer and Dryer Parts, Refridgerator and Freezer Parts, Stove and Oven Parts

Does it not advance in both timed dry and auto modes.

The timer motor gets its power through a different circuit path in each mode.

If it advances in timed dry then the timer is probably OK.
