In the past year I've replaced the valve and filter and everything was business as usual. Recently my water dispenser quit working (ice maker still works great). I took the hoses off and made sure they were not clogged. This problem appears to be intermittent because after I checked the hoses it was working again. Not more than 12 hours later it quit :sigh:

I can hear the mechanism engaging but no water comes out. I've seen previous posts with similiar problems. Is it possible it's the button in the facade? And if so, why do I hear the mechanism engaging?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

If the mechanism sound you hear is coming from the water valve on back you can disconnect the line there to make sure the water is coming out of the valve when you try to get water.
Your water line could be frozen in the door. You can disconnect the line under the unit before it goes into the door at the bottom hinge. Push the dispenser button and see if it comes out there. If it does try a hair dryer blowing where the water line is at the dispenser for a few minutes.

OK, I checked the line under the hinge at the bottom of the freezer door. I disconnected the union and blew all the water out of the hose to the water dispenser. I then hit the dispenser button and no water came out of the hose which joins to the union and goes to the door dispenser hose....So I kindly ask, Now what? LOL

The noise I hear is coming from the valve in the back.

from the water valve on back you can disconnect the line there to make sure the water is coming out of the valve when you try to get water.

Do you have a water filter that may need changed or reset.

I'm getting water from the line in the back. The filter was changed last summer and 'shouldn't' need replacing yet.

Is there some sort of troubleshooting guide or service manual? The operators manual I have tells me little more than plug it in and it should work.

For kicks and giggles I disconneted the plastic hose from the main valve and had my wife hit the water button and water shot out nicely.

Prior to this I had the unit unplugged for about 10 minutes. So of course I had to plug it back in order to do this.

I reconnected the plastic hosing and tried the water in front and it works. This is the same thing that happened yesterday. I thought I had fixed it only to find that less than 12 hours later it quit again.

Basically, I've done nothing to warrant a fix, other than disconnect and reconnect a couple hoses. So this would be the intermittent situation I was speaking of in my original post.
