Dryer heating to around 170 - 180 F. Changed Cycling Thermostat and Thermal Fuse. Is it just the high limit Thermostat that needs changing?

Here are your parts Replacement parts for AMANA ALE331RAW | AppliancePartsPros.comCould not find a wiring diagram for this unit but perhaps won't need it. Also not sure where you are measuring the temp. The high limit should not come into play if all is OK with the dryer, it is a safety device. Sounds more like you have an air flow problem or if the lower temp settings do not work, the Heater, thermostat Item 11 in the "Motor and fan assembly" section may be burned out. Not sure what this heater should measure would think about 5,000 ohms. You are actually sucking the air through the system so poor drum seals etc. will effect temperatures. Also dirty lint filter especially if you use fabric softener, it can coat the screen greatly reducing air flow. If coated it has to be cleaned with soap and water. Check the vent system. Undo the dryer from the exhaust Run a load If the load dries correctly then you have a vent problem. Clean/check the vent system. Make sure the outside louvers open fully. If you do not want lint in the house. Take a pair of pantyhose, put one leg into the other and attach this to the dryer exhaust. Leave enough room behind the dryer so it can blow out like a windsock. Run a load. Both the above will allow you to check the air flow and temp. Also the above is NOT recommended for a gas dryer due to possible carbon monoxide problems. |

On that dryer it tends not to have a great venting system. The lint builds up in the blower assembly. You have to remove the front, and then remove the blower assembly, which is held in by Four 5/16th screws. 2 on each side. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

I'm running the dryer in an open area, inside a warehouse, with no vent pipe, and I have a thermometer in the exhaust. The blower housing doesn't appear to be blocked up.

Does changing the temp setting change the exhaust temp? If not you may have a grounded element. Remove both wires from the element and measure it, should be around 10 ohms. Then measure from each side to the case/frame should be an open (infinite) |
