This stove came with my house and the glass top has been neglected so bad that everything sticks to it and it is impossible to clean. I would guess that the previous owners or my kids did the big no-no and used Scotch Brite pads or something worse.
I really like the stove but I don't know if it makes sense to replace the top. I can get a new top for about $300.00. What was the price range of this stove when new and about how old is it?
Thank you for any replies that help make my decision between repair or buying new easier.

Scott Scott, Can't tell the age of the range, at this point, we need a serial number for the production date. Part number: AP2126759
But of course, it's less expensive to repair the unit than to replace it. probably, one third of the cost of a new unit ??? If you repair the unit yourself, thats a lot of money saved. Good luck, :) :) :)

Thanks for the reply Joe,
The serial number of the stove is:
VF34018606
When you say 1/3 the cost, are you saying that this is about a $900.00 stove? As I said, I really like the stove but I don't want to throw good money after bad.
Thanks for your input,
Scott

Thanks for your input,
Scott Scott, The serial number you supplied, indicates your range was produced in October of 2003(most likely). Yes, I would estimate, a simillar, equipped, configured replacement range would cost in the neighborhood you quoted, depending on brand, model and dealer. Good Luck, :) :) :)
