Jon, Check and make sure the switch plunger(button) is not sticking, light weight grease or oil, usually works, to clean and lube the button. Before you repalce the switch asembly Part number: AP2825671
Good Luck, :) :) :)

John, There's a slight possibility that the gear motor switch has failed or may need to be adjusted, But, I'm pretty sure once you get the up down switch replaced, and the chimney reaches the full up position, you'll be fine. :) :) :)

John, You'll need to access the "J" box, remove the cover and check the up/down motor switch and motor and linkage to the chimney. This is all located in the cabinet, under the cooktop. Here's a copy of the manual, to help you out. The control and cooling fan thermal switches.doc (84kb) downloaded 22 time(s). :) :) :)
