I have an old maytag washer, model LA712, It leaked oil out of the bottom of the transmission. So I ordered new seals from appliance parts pro, I installed the seals and in doing so, one seal is inside of the transmission. I had to take the transmission apart to do the job. I set it back together, and the agitator works fine, but something seems to be wrong because in the spin/rinse cycles, it just keeps on agitating, it does not spin. What did I do wrong and how can I fix it?

What kind of oil did you put in it?

I put "Maytag transmission oil"in it.

This may just be coincidental to your repair. Have you checked the spin in all the timer cycles?

yes, no spins, only agitation in all cycles.

Just to eliminate the motor as suspect, Remove the belts and try a spin cycle. If the motor runs, the problem is definitely in the transmission.
