tested element good. tested thermalfuse good. tested high temp cutouts good. one of the temp cutouts #341146 had continuity but was sitting in a black plastic looking housing with a white and purple wire attached and there was not continuity at these terminals part #61894 (whirlpool number) Question is, is this part normally open and what is it? it was not connected with the normal red wires that the over temp. devices or the fuse had. thank you,

A model number may help others help you. Model Number LocatorTry flipping the breaker off/on slowly a couple times, sometimes you can loose half the line without actually tripping the breaker. If this does nothing, check the voltage at the plug L1 to L2 should be 240 volts L1 to Neutral and L2 to Neutral, both should be 120 volts. If OK Unplug the unit and check the wires at the terminal strip in the machine to make sure none are loose or burned out If OK Check the power at the terminal strip. Be careful as 240 volts is lethal !!! 341146 is the main cycling thermostat. 61894 is a thermostat heater. Usually they are around 7,000 ohms. When you request a lower temperature, this is heated up which adds heat to the cycling thermostat which then cycles more often resulting in less dryer heat. It should not cause you to have no heat if it is blown. You were probably on loo low a meter scale to get a reading on it. |
