I have a Kenmore Elite model# 15962990 that is not draining. It was working properly and then just stopped. when I try to drain it I hear a buzzing like the motor is trying to work, but is not spinning. it buzzes for a while and then shuts off. I checked to see if it was clogged and that is not the case. I have also reset several times to no avail. Any suggestions?

Does it wash?

Remove the bottom access panel and check if there are a water marks on the motor. If there are any, replace the pump & motor assembly.

Thanks Gene,
A pricey part, but it looks like the right fix. I pulled the cover off and the motor is corroded. Looks like this has been going on for a while.
thanks again,

You are welcome.

It is expensive but at least it's not too difficult to replace it yourself. Keep us posted.

I finally found time to install the new motor. Works great, and was an easy swap. However the new motor does make a clicking sound as if the impeller is hitting something internally. I hope that is not a sign that the motor will fail already? Thanks for the help Gene.

You are welcome. It's hard to say why the new pump makes such noise. One of possibilities is if a foreign object got inside. Hopefully it will go through after a few cycles.
