Thanks Daniel.
I wasn't too sure about pulling apart my oven just to fix the display. But bolstered with confidence from your post I went for it. Opened it up and confirmed I had the C3 cap. Then headed to radio shack. Unfortunately I had to buy a 6 pack for $6.95 instead of just 1.

Got it home, swapped out the cap, soldered it in, reassembled and flipped on the breaker! Bingo! We are back in business.

Thanks for your post.

A few years back, my display went dark. I replaced the entire display unit. A year or two later it happened again. We're thinking of redoing the kitchen, so we have lived with the display dull. I was bored last week and did a search and found this solution. I bought the capacitor for $1.49 at Radio Shack, had it soldered in (paying attention to poles) and it is working like new. Thanks for offering this solution. You saved me a few hundred dollars.

Thank you for your post Daniel. I found this site searching for an answer to the dim display on my Jenn-Air wall oven. I followed your instruction and I now have a repaired display. Thank you again, your post was invaluable!

Birdbox: Spot on with your recommended repair! Followed your instructions, $1.49 capacitor from Radio Shack, about 30 minutes to pull and unplug circuit board, unsolder old, resolder new capacitor, reinstall circuit board, turn on circuit breaker......BINGO! Seems to be working great!

Hello all. I appreciate the information on this post. I had a dim display on my jenn air slide in downdraft range and over time it went completely blank. The other day I pulled the panel and there are three capacitors - a C3, C6 and C7.
The C3 is a 47UF 250V, the C6 is a 680UF 25V, and the C7 is a 220UF 50V. I have not desoldered and tested these caps yet but wondering if anyone here knows which one is for the display? The control panel part number is WP8507P232-60.

blueovalsvt were you able to solve your display issue? I have the same capacitor configuration with the same problem.

Thanks: 1 times
Many years later Daniel's post is still saving people time and money.

He is a hero!

Today I swapped out C3, which was 220uF in my particular Jenn-Air oven. Luckily I work for an electronics company and the exact capacitor was available. My control pcb also mysteriously had a resistor soldered in series with the cap, so I left that there. The display now works again! 😊

I fell for replacing the display. The display now though only shows the top oven. The bottom oven works perfectly well. I feel it is a hazard not being able to see. Or if someone accidentally turns on. Anyone have a solution?
