I have a range that displays F1 error code ONLY when in self cleaning mode after 1 1/2 hrs. Otherwise range works perfectly. When attempting to buy EOC part on ApplianceParts website, there are similar model numbers as PLCS389DCB but none exact. This slide-in range has a gas stove top with an electric convection oven. Is this a special oven and I have to get part from manufacturer? Or can you recommend other vendors? Thanks!
F1 Electronic oven control failure Replace electronic oven control (also called EOC or clock).

The first thing I would recommend to replace is the oven temperature sensor (aka the temperature probe), not the EOC. Also check the wire harness from the sensor to the EOC. - The part number for the oven temperature sensor AP3363354 - The part number for the EOC (just in case) AP3581500 Gene.

Thanks Gene! If the problem is the temperature sensor as you indicate, wouldn't the unit generate a different failure code? A different way to ask the same question: How accurate / reliable are the oven error codes?

They are pretty accurate but you have to know how to understand them.

I'm going to try to repair this. Because of the tight fit, I'd rather not slide out this unit to repair it if I don't have to. To access the EOC and inspect wiring harness, could I just remove the top? Is this possible? Are there disassembly instructions available somewhere?

I'm afraid you would not get full access to the oven sensor and its wires from the front of the unit. You can try. And forget about EOC for a while. Do the oven sensor first.
