The dryer will be set in automatic mode- it gets stuck and won't advance beyond certain point and dryer continues to dry with heat. I tried timer setting on 30 min and 20 min and it ran, cooled and turned off.

Any tests, checks or other I can check to try and fix this?
I don't want to have a fire hazard but with many boys at home, the appliance is needed.
Thanks!:)

Clean the moisture sensing bars on the bottom of the lint filter inlet grille. If they are dirty/gummed up and shorting out, the electronic moisture sensor control will think the laundry is still wet. Here's a link to grille with integral bars so you get an idea of their location.
