When washer has a heavy load it does not always complete the spin cycle. The load is not unbalanced and spin cycle has to be restarted to drain the tub, there was also the smell of burning rubber. I removed the lower front panel and observed the belt was somewhat slack on the pulleys. I checked the idler pulley and found it was no longer rotating against the belt. The belt was just rubbing against the idler pulley, which caused the belt to overheat. If I replace the belt, the idler pulley and the tension spring do you think this will solve the problem ? Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Hi.

Sounds like you'll be OK, if you'll replace belt and tention pulley with spring.
While you are there check the drain pump for leaks.Replace if needed.

Here the breakdown diagrams and 04-Motor, Pump and Idler Assembly parts for Maytag SAV515DEWW - AppliancePartsPros.com

Post the results.

Thanks for the quick response.

Do you think that the shaft portion of the idler lever could be damaged, since the idler pulley seems to be frozen onto the lever arm ? I was wondering if I should also order a new idler lever.
