Dryer starts and heats on first cycle/round but does not heat on second cycle/round (once flame shuts off). On second cycle ignitor glows but gas never ignites and dryer continues to run without heat. If dryer is left alone for 10 minutes or so, it will ignite on the first cycle and run with heat until it flames out again. Please help!

Hello, This is an easy fix. You have a bad coil on the safety valve. They are sold as a pair if you look for the part number, it is recommended to replace them as a pair. I'd go into more detail and get the part number for you, but my wife's hollerin', "Time to leave for church!" LOL Good luck and be sure to kill the power before servicing!

Thanks I will change them out and let you know. Any chance it might be the hi temp thermostat?

Hello Jim, If either of the thermostats were bad it would never light. Sorry about Sunday afternoon. The part number for the coil kit, (both coils), is [AP3094251]. This will fix it for you.

Jerry I spoke too soon. Got about 20 minutes into the cycle and the burner shut off and will not relight. The glow plug lights but the gas valve does not open and the glow plug turns off and I hear a click. It repeats this cycle every few minutes, but the burner never comes back on. Any suggestions?

Hello Jim, I'm sorry this is the case but sometimes appliances can throw curves. Sounds like the gas valve is the issue. Most of the time the coils solve the problem without incident. If you got those coils from us, since the valve comes with the coils, unless you want to keep them for the next failure, you can call in for a return authorization. Part number: AP5617602

Jerry, I ordered the valve. How difficult is it to replace?

Hello Jim, The gas valve isn't that hard to replace. The worst part of some of these is disconnecting the gas line to remove the assembly. Some have a swivel at the valve which makes it easier. Be sure to use lightly soaped water to look for leaks and never look with an open flame. If there's a compression fitting, don't use Teflon tape as this can get into the compression fitting and foul the seal, causing a leak. When there's a compression fitting you will see the angle inside the nut area and there will be another angle on the opposite side opposing the other angled face. Only use the yellow Teflon tape made for gas lines on the pipe threads that have no angled faces that butt together. The most important part of it is unplugging the unit and turning off the gas supply before beginning.

Jim G42 ... Any solution to the problem? My kenmore He4 gas dryer model 110.95872400 is doing the same thing. When started, it glows and flame ignites, it will get hot and shut off, then glow and flame ignites again. After that, the cylinder glows and I hear a "click" noise, but flame will not ignite again. It will repeat over and over, i.e., glowing, clicking and no flame. Turn the dryer off, wait some time, restart a cycle, it does the same thing. Solution? the diagnostic check reveals nothing, and I've replaced the thermistor and thermal fuse already. Thanks.
