Will not agitate or spin out anymore. Still has a good belt, the pulley that connects to transmission turns freely. Pulled the agitator off and removed the bell to check for wear and everything seems to be good in that area. I did notice that when I try to free turn the tub it does not turn. So that is what I am up against and have no idea and for whatever I know it could be a switch, capacitor or whatever. Any help in solving this problem would be appreciated as am on Social Security and am trying to avoid a repair service to come out. Thank you, Steve

Hi Steve,
Does the motor work?
The model number you posted does not come up. Was this washer sold in US? Verify and repost the model number.

model no. should be; WJRR4170E0WW top load GE washer. So follow up to your response is I have corrected the model no. and you asked if the motor ran and this is what I have found. When the washer is engaged in the spin cycle to test motor it just starts to turn on but stops in a milliesecond, almost as if transmission is froze up. Do not know if that is possible and there is a loud click. So any suggestion will be certainly appreciated. Thanks, Steve

Remove the belt and check how freely the transmission pulley is moving in both directions.

Gene -, is there a tool or something you might be able to remove the belt with as this seems to be difficult to access. Thanks, Steve

No, there are no such special tools. It should not be very difficult after you remove the front panel.

Good morning Gene; well I did get the belt off and tested the motor which runs great. Transmission, another story, turning the bottom of trans in counter clockwise manner it turns freely, but when turned in its normal clockwise manner it is froze up or with effort it will turn barely. So is it possible I would be able to resolve this issue. Thanks, Steve

hello Gene, I wasn't sure you received my last response and it was Easter week. I was able to get the belt off and ran the motor which ran fine. When I turn the pully on the transmission counter clockwise it turns freely, however when turned clockwise it is froze up and if I really turn it hard it barley turns with great difficulty. So that is where I am and again appreciate any more suggestions. Thank you

Sounds like the problem is a bad transmission. It is pretty expensive, so I'm not sure if you would like to fix it. - The transmission Part number: AP2046402
