I called the north american number in the owners manual. I was given the option of having the parts shipped to me and I install which voids the remaining warranty or have a "qualified" person do it which would keep the remaining warranty. I chose the former and in three days I had half the plastic tub and a new stainless tub sitting on my front step in two huge boxes from fedex. the other half was on backorder and should arrive this week. I didn't really have to twist anyone's arm. Just have the part numbers with you, I didn't and I requested to talk to a supervisor who took care of everything quite cheerfully I might add. I told them I used to work on appliances and knew this was a common problem. I plan on doing the same thing for the washer I got off craigslist and have one "new" washer on backup. It has a different serial number so I should just have to give that to them and get the same parts, or course to a different address. lol

Well I wasn't able to get them to do anything but I did order the bearing kit from Jeff at 8540091 and 8540347 WHIRLPOOL DUET BEARING AND SEAL KIT and that did the trick. Working like new again.

The bad thing about this is the 5 year warranty I purchased ran out in July of 11. In August I had to replace the shocks, drain pump, drain hose, and now the bearings. What a piece of garbage this is.

The bearings were under warranty but only if I had a service tech at $79 an our come out an diagnose.

Thanks to all of your posts I now know I am not liable for my washer! That is is really not my fault! Oh yea!! So I will either fix it myself and get reimbursed or I will try and get the owner to give me the warranty, so I can get the repair guys to come out and fix it! ;-) I have enough to do with packing and moving! ;)
