Hi John
Did it start without pushing the start button? How does it dry?

Did the timer move to the off position by itself or it skipped the off position and kept running? Did the timer move at all?
Gene.

I'am wrong when you close the dryer door it will start up on it's own, also the timer does function properly. John

In such case no doubt the problem is the shorted start switch which has to be replaced. - The part number for the start switch AP2975301 Good luck. Gene.
