I have a Caloric gas double oven model # RWS214UWW, MFG # P1132442NWW. Problem I am having is the oven will not start, the ignighter glows red but burner will not fire up and I do not smell any gas, what could the problem be? Thank you.

Hi C5Steve Most likely the problem with your oven is a bad igniter and it has to be replaced. The new igniter comes without a bracket. You should use the bracket from the old igniter. - The part number for the new igniter AP2934763 - Here are the break down diagrams for the Caloric oven Model RWS214UWWGood luck. Gene.

Thanks for the info Gene, but when I turn the stove on the igniter glows a bright orange so wouldn't that mean it is working? Also I don't smell any gas while I wait.

Hi C5Steve
The igniter is wired in series with the burner valve. When the thermostat calls for heat, line voltage is applied to the circuit. As the igniter begins to glow, the current increases. The current flow causes the valve to open when the igniter becomes bright red (almost white). Flat igniters operate from 3.2 to 3.6 amps. In your case the current is less then 3.2 amps and even it does glow it does not open the gas valve.

Gene, I bought the igniter and now trying to install it. I have the igniter removed from the brackets but the wires do not pull through, should I be trying to pull harder? My oven is a in wall unit, do I have to take the oven out of the wall to get to the wires? Thank you Steve

Hi Steve
If you can not pull wires through, do not use an excessive force. It is better to remove the oven from the cabinet. Before you do it, do not forget to disconnect the power, shut off the gas to the oven and disconnect the gas line from the oven.
