I saw this response by "abadfish66" in another post. I'm going to try this and see what comes out of it.
To get to the control panel, there are 2 screws at the top of the vent cover above the door, take those off and remove the vent cover. next you will see 1 screw for the control panel remove it. Push upward on the control panel as it sits in slots. and drop the front down twards you there you have access to the control board. Pull the ribbon cable out of the board and clean the ends with a paper towel. put the ribbo cable back in and see if it works. Please unplug the microwave before disassembly. Keep me posted

It worked!!! Hi, I have a similar problem with my GE Spacemaker model JVM2070SK02, 3 years old. I've been resetting my microwave in the same manner but it continues at various times to go brain dead. I'll unplugg it for about 30 seconds and plug it back in. Sometimes, I do not need to reset the clock and other times I do. Now it won't reset at all. I'm trying to determine a replacement part which I suspect is the smart board. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks in advance. Keith
