I'm trying to replace the outer tub on a Maytag 3000 front-load washer (MHWE300VF00), but I can't get the basket to separate from the outer tub. Can someone please tell me how to separate the outer tub from the basket?
Thank you!

Hello, If you have the tubs split and the inner tub will not pull free from the bearing you may want to try a rubber mallet and block of wood. Set the piece of wood on the top of the spin basket shaft, give it a tap and tub should pull free. Appliance Repair Technician:

Thank you for replying. I already tried to knock it out as you suggested. I started out tapping it gently and worked my way up to hitting it so hard that I split several 2x4s. It won't budge.
Is there nothing that holds it in?

Not sure if Im in the right spot here, but trying to get some assistance on replacing the bearings on this unit, sounds like a jet taking off while in drain or spin mode. tube is not rubbing, no plastic in and around tub, but real noisy during the cycles mentioned. First, am I in the right diagnose mode here and is it relatively easy to replace bearings? tks for any assistance, greg
