Got a gas dryer Whirlpool model SGDX600JQ2, the timer is not turning, heat will kick in for about 5 minutes, then the heat will shut off, the dryer will keep on turning all day if a do not shut it off manually. I need advise an what to part to buy. Matt

Very likely the problem is a bad gas valve coils.

Hi Gene,
This is Mqcheng64 , I received the Gas Valve today from APP. and installed it, it's works few times and goes back same problem. what do i do next?Thanks

Unlikely, but there is a small chance that the flame sensor contacts open prematurely.

Hi Gene,
The gas valve came in today from App and I installed it. I tested a few times it's works fine. put everything back together and test a first load and went back same problems.Please advise , Thanks mqcheng64

Hi Gene,
The gas valve came in today from App and I installed it right away. It's works first few tested.After I put it's together then test a first load and went back same problem.The ignitor glow for 20 seconds then goes out I could smell gas but no flame. Thanks

Hi gene,
I checked with multimeter and there is contuinity in flame sensor. Perhaps Temperature control element broke.please advise,Thanks.

The possible problem with the flame sensor I mentioned in the previous post can not be proved by continuity test. I would just order it and give it a try.
