When troubleshooting a light problem on this microwave I pushed the two door latches in to see if the light would work. I then managed to pull the latches back out to what I think is their original position. But now, when I try to use the microwave, the door seems to close okay, but when I press start the "door" message appears and the microwave won't start.

Is there a reset or something I need to do? Help.

Richard,

Looks like your "experiments" caused the 20 amps fuse behind the control panel to blow out. Check it for continuity and replace if it's open. If this fuse is fine, check the 15 amps line fuse on the right side on the back of the microwave. In such situation the microwave has to be removed from the oven cabinet.

Thanks Gene, and for being so quick on a Friday late afternoon. I'll give your solution a shot.

Next question then is how to get at the 20amp fuse behind the control panel? Can I just pull the whole combo unit partially out to get at it? Any instructions on pulling it out?

Richard J :)

All instructions are in the Service manual. Good luck.

Same problem with my Whirlpool combo. My model # is GMC305PRS01. I also made a same mistake of pushing latches in and pulling back out. May be 20 amp fuse is blown as mentioned in your note. Did you get instruction on how to get to fuse. Instruction on the link is from Kitchen aid combo not Whirlpool. Thanks

Kitchen Aid is a part of Whirlpool. You can use the same service manual.

I have the same problem without doing anything to the latch. The 20A fuse read zero resistance. I supposed the fuse is OK. What else should I check? Mine is GMC275PDB07.
