Have you cleaned the lint chute (#1 on the diagram) and the blower wheel? Make sure everything inside the dryer is clean and run it with the vent pipe disconnected from the dryer. Post the results. Gene.

Ok I finally had some more time and did as you instructed. I made sure everything was clean and clear(it was) I unhooked then vent hose and ran the dryer. Good force on blowing air out the vent hole. I watched to see if it would ignite and this time upon watching it did not ignite. I watched for about 5 minutes it would glow but no flame. To my previous post it has been completely clogged no air flow. I pretty sure dryer has over heated. What do you suggest to check or replace...... Once again thank you for all your help.

Kenny,
I would try the gas valve assembly. If you will order it from Appliance Parts Pros and it would not fix the problem, you still can return it due to their very friendly return policy.

Gene,
Thank you for all your help. I replaced the gas valve, along with thermal fuse and thermal cut off. Do not know which one fixed this issue but it glows and flames everytime now. Thank you once again and have a Merry Christmas.

Gene, I am at my wits end. My 12 year old Maytag LDG8606AAE gas dryer was working perfectly. It started by the blower wheel wearing out. I changed the blower wheel. When I started it back up the igniter wouldn't glow. I changed the thermal fuse, multi-temp thermostat and the igniter. I started it back up and the igniter glowed the gas lit but it turned off after about 10 seconds. If I let it run it will relight the gas every few minutes and then shut back down. I changed the coils and drive belt, it still lights and shuts down. I checked the flame sensor with a digital ohm meter and with the wires disconnected it reads closed 0 ohms. The timer moves through its 60 minute cycle fine. I really am stuck on this one! I've checked all of the new parts and they read closed and the coils checkout good. I didn't think it could be the gas valve since it was opening on start up. Any thoughts?

Have you cleaned the dryer outside vent line all the way through the vent outlet? If the dryer inside is clean, disconnect the vent hose from the dryer and run the dryer without it. If it would do the same thing, replace the high limit thermostat (#17 on the diagram). - The high limit thermostat Part number: AP4036956

Yes, I have cleaned all the lint out of the lines, I have a clean duct all the way thru. I've already changed the Hi-Lo Thermostat. I've changed the multi-temp thermostat, thermal fuse, and coils. My flame sensor reads closed it sees the glow from the igniter and opens the gas valve at start-up. I get flame for about 10-15 seconds then the gas valve turns off. If I leave it on it will re-start about every 4-5 minutes.
If I jumper the Hi-Lo thermostat the gas will stay on, but of course will not cycle on and off. It seems the problem is when the igniter begins to cool down, something tells the gas valve to turn off and it isn't the multi-temp thermostat. The only parts I do not have new is the gas valve and the flame sensor. I thought if the flame sensor sees the ignitor and reads closed it should be good it turns the gas on for start up. If I jumper the Hi-Lo thermostat and the gas stays lit it shouldn't be the gas valve. I'm sorry I forgot to tell you I changed the Hi -Lo in the first post, thanks for your help.

Which part did you call "Hi-Lo thermostat"? Can you refer to the diagram? I'm afraid we are talking about different parts.

Hi limit Thermostat #17 on the diagram, located across and a bit higher from the flame sensor #18. I replaced it with a new Hi limit and checked it with an ohm meter before installing. I've replaced everything except the flame sensor and the gas valve.
If you jumper the Hi limit Thermostat the gas will stay on after the ignitor turns off. When the Hi limit thermostat is connected, as soon as the ignitor powers down, the gas valve closes and I lose flame. In a few minutes it starts up again and repeats. Thanks for your help.
