Hi Benjamin, There are five major electrical parts involved in the heating process: 1. Thermal fuse 2. Cycling thermostat 3. Igniter 4. Flame sensor 5. Gas valve coils How to find out which part causing the problem? Pretty simple: all of these parts have to be tested for continuity in the above sequence. The following article on our forum will explain in detail how to run a continuity test using either an analog meter or a digital meter - How To Check Continuity With OhmmeterIf any of them is open – it has to be replaced. If the thermal fuse is blown – it has to be replaced together with the cycling thermostat. The cycling thermostat has to be tested for continuity across the large terminals only. Gas valve coils also could be tested by resistance. There are two coils – one with three terminals and one with two terminals. 1. Coil with two terminals should have 1220 ± 50 Ohms 2. Coil with three terminals if held with terminals in upper position: a) across the left and the middle terminals – 1365 ± 25 Ohms b) across the left and the right terminals – 560 ± 25 Ohms How to locate these parts in your dryer? Type the model number (the name plate is on the door frame) in the search box, click the “search” button and you will be directed to the break down diagrams. Using the break down diagrams, locate the part you’re looking for. - The part number for the thermal fuse is AP3132867 - The part number for the cycling thermostat is AP3131939 - The part number for the igniter is AP3094138 - The part number for the flame sensor is AP2910747 - The part number for the gas valve coils kit is AP3094251 Good luck. Gene.

Hi Gene, Thanks for the great instructions, however I tested all the parts you mentioned and they all seem to test ok /no opens. What do you suggest next?
Matt

Hi Matt,
What is the complete model number of the dryer?
What is the original problem?
Gene.

Hi Gene, The problem is just like the original sender's. Dryer runs but no heat. I've gone as far as to remove the drum and start the dryer so that I could watch the cycle. The igniter does not come on, but no gas is flowing either. The unit is a Kenmore 70 series, model number 76722690 Thank you so much for any help you can provide. Matt

Matt, If all parts in the heating circuit checked fine then the only timer left as a possible culprit. Unfortunately I could not find the wiring diagram for this model and can not tell you how to check the timer exactly. - The timer Part number: AP3100523

Gene, I don't know what I was seeing before, but after rechecking everything I determined that the Thermal fuse was blown. Such a simple fix, I'm kicking myself for not double checking it before.. Thanks again for all of your advice, I couldn't have fixed it otherwise. Matt

Matt,
I'm glad to hear it. This is most common problem and usually it is connected to restricted air flow through the dryer. Clean the vent and keep in mind that the dryer needs cleaning and maintenance at least every other year.
Thank you for the feedback and good luck with your dryer.
Gene.

I probably have the same problem as Matt, but I just want to make sure that this issue fits:
Gas dryer, tumbles, no heat (venting not cleaned out since 1994), but the odd thing is that even set on a timed dry, like 20 minutes, the timer does not advance. Even tumbling after 2 hours it still reads 20 minutes. Just want to verify that the fuse could cause this problem, too.
