Hello
One of my customers has a Whirlpool microwave / hood fan combo (model GMH5205XVQ) that is brand new. There appears to be an issue with the fan. When you press the button, the blower motor turns on and spins, however there is precious little suction on the underside of the unit (you can barely feel it, and it doesn't even direct steam up the exhaust). I've checked the installation (done by builder) and it appears correct, the exhaust ducting is connected and the little flap lid on the microwave exhaust is functioning. Being a cabinetmaker, that is about the extent of my knowlege on appliance repair. Any suggestions on what the issue could be before I recommend an appliance repair tech?
Cheers

Cheers HB, Check and varify the vent length and size based on the vent run and size in the installation manual. Check and make sure the vent motor assembly is properly installed on the housing. If I remember correctly that may be a low CFM blower(200 - 250 cfm) and may be working properly. :) :) :)
