Hello, 2 of the 4 spark igniters on my stove top have stopped working consistently. When I turn the knob to the "iite" position, it doesn't spark like the other burners that work. Some times it works, but most of the time it doesn't. I called GE and they said that I can order a replacement electrode and replace it myself; however, they won't be sending instructions with the parts. Is this an easy part to replace by myself? I pulled out the electrode and it was attached to a wire. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

If you already pulled out the electrode - you went more then half way. The wire just plugs into the electrode. Pull it out and plug into the new electrode. But... The first thing I would check is the ceramic part of the ignition electrode. If it's not broken and not cracked - it's fine. If there is nothing wrong with the ceramic insulation then the problem is a bad spark module (located inside the control panel). - The part number for the ignition electrode is AP2020574 - The part number for the spark module is AP2020570 Gene.

Yes, this part is not too difficult to replace yourself. Remove the rear cover from the control panel and you'll see it.

Thanks you so much for your help. We replaced the spark module and it has fixed the problem. All 4 burners ignite without any problems. You saved us a lot of money and time. Thanks again.
