IN normal wash mode the cycle stops; does not drain but the timer proceeds through the spin cycle without draining and no spin. I can advance the spin to the Gentle spin and it drains and spins but not as long as the Normal mode. Is this a timer problem ? Or some other part not enganging the spin and drain ? Before I spend a bunch on a new timer.

The motor works in Normal wash/fill/agitate cycle. The timer advances through drain and spin but the washer does not actually drain or spin in Normal. I think the Spin cycle only works in Gentle. Motor works in all wash cycles.

thanks but I am confused . do you mean the main motor or the timer motor ? could it be a gear not engaging or the timer is worn and not connecting at certain spots ? the motor works, that's pretty clear. Thanks
